Beauty Tip: NuFACE

Posted on April 7, 2017

I have a really good friend that works in the cosmetic department at Neiman Marcus and she’s been working there for over 10 years. And it’s great to get insights from her on what products/gadgets really work vs a trend that sells but doesn’t actually show results. We’re close friends so she tells me as is, not like she’s trying to make a commission from me. And it’s not just her personal insights, but what works for the other 60 some ladies that work in cosmetics as well. I figure they have access to almost every skin care brand (since I’m sure they get a nice discount and unlimited access to samples) that they can choose to use what really works. So when my GF suggests something, I’m always up for trying it. My friend and her co-workers all swear by this little gadget called NuFACE. It’s supposed to help contour, tone and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

TBH, I don’t struggle with wrinkles or fine lines at the moment. (not to say it won’t come at me in a few years, but lucky to have Asian genes where it’s not a big concern of mine) What I have noticed as I get older is that gravity is slowly starting to take over where I’m noticing a bit of sag on my face. It’s subtle but I noticed after my facialist mentioned it to me a year ago. So it’s kind of a complex of mine where I’m trying to prevent sagging.

So come January of this year, I purchased the full size NuFACE Trinity Facial Trainer Kit, White. This also comes in a smaller version- NuFACE Mini. But I went with the actual NuFACE because that’s what my GF had. (the company website states that both the regular size and mini size uses the same amount of micro currents) It also comes with a gel to use with the device. My GF informed me that and her co-workers don’t actually use the gel and they opt for other alternatives once they’ve used up the gel that comes with the device.  I personally use the Nature Republic New Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Gel and it’s been working fine. So much less expensive than repurchasing the NuFACE gel.

I’ve been using the gadget every morning since January, even if I”m traveling. Not every single day, but average around 5 times a week, for about 15 minutes 0n my entire face. I’ll do it first thing in the morning before washing my face. I’ll apply the Nature Republic New Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Gel, on my face, liberally. Then I’ll watch the morning news while running the device over my cheeks and forehead. The time goes by really fast if I’m watching something. Afterwards, I’ll wash my face and go through my normal morning skin care routine. Easy, peasy.

And the results? I personally haven’t noticed a difference until I hit month 3. TBH, I was getting a little skeptical when I haven’t noticed ANY difference, but I kept at it because my GF said that it took her 2-3 months to see a difference. So when I hit the 3rd month, I noticed my skin was more toned. My facialist even noticed the difference last week (which prompted me to write this tip) and I consider her to be the “professional.” (LOL) I haven’t noticed a difference in contour though. And I typically wake up with a swollen face, sometimes severe if I consume a lot of sodium the night before. I had imagined this device would depuff my face, but it really doesn’t work for that. The only thing that I’ve noticed is that it helps tone my face, so less sagging. But again, you have to do it consistently. My mom purchased hers and she’ll do it 2-3 times a week but sometimes skip a week here and there. And she hasn’t noticed any difference.

My GF from Neiman Marcus that recommended me this device is in her mid-40’s. And she’s noticed a drastic difference in toning and improving her fine lines and wrinkles. And she’s been using this device for over a year. Last November when I was having dinner with her, I noticed her face was a bit sallow looking and she mentioned that she hasn’t been using her NuFACE device. That’s when it clicked that this device actually works where I can see the difference in her face.

Bottom line. If you’re willing to commit 15 minutes of your day to using this device to around 4-5 times a week, I highly recommend it. You have to be patient as well because depending on your skin type, it can take anywhere between 2-3 months for you to notice a difference. And that’s only with consistent, diligent use.

Living in a digital age where we want instant gratification is nice if you’re ordering grocery, but beauty takes time. So if you’re willing to invest the money, time and patience for yourself, I highly recommend this product!

xx Maddie
